I like to share quotes as I do every week when I write the Weekly Wisdom so you will usually find at least one in anything I write as long as it works with the topic I’m writing about.
I was talking to my Son last week who is going to be 60 in March and he said he still feels like he’s 30, I replied, although I’m going to be 81 in April, I still feel like I’m in my 50’s. We then both said the same thing, “I can’t believe I’m that old.” However we both think positively so I believe with the power of our minds we will always be young.
I got married at 19 (that’s what girls in my family were expected to do in the 50’s.) He was born just before I was 21 so there’s only about 20 years’ difference in our ages. As much as I love my children, I encourage you to live a little and wait awhile before you get married.
I may be more techie challenged than younger people but every day I learn something new and I intend to keep learning because that, with positive thinking, will allow me to live a happy life and keep my mind active so I can continue to think I’m in my 50’s for many more years.
Even after 30 years of working with people to help them change the way they think, I still hear people either having regrets and speaking or sometimes moaning about their life in such negative ways.
Although I let this go many years ago now, I still hear so many people talking about the regrets they have, which in actuality keeps them stuck in the past. There really isn’t any point wasting mind power having regrets, although you can learn from it, you can’t change anything that has already happened.
You also don’t know what’s going to happen in the future so if you start the “what if” thinking all you will do is give yourself anticipatory anxiety and suppose those negatives never happen, you will have wasted that brain power for nothing.
Don’t look back, whatever has happened in the past is over and if you constantly worry about the future you will live life constantly stressed and anxious.
Voltaire said, “Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her but once they are in hand, you alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.”
The only time to think about is NOW. Yes, you can certainly set goals with future dates but then let them go. Don’t focus on what you don’t want, which is what many people do and then they don’t understand why they can’t achieve the outcome they want. You only have control over your present days.
Focus on what you do want to achieve. Take action and stay in the present, live your days with intention, get clear on your purpose in life and dream bigger, whether its life and/or business, set bolder goals and don’t allow doubt to sabotage your success. Put the power of your mind to good use.
I’ve made many mistakes in my life but from each one, I’ve learned something that has allowed me to keep growing (not in height because I’m barely 5’ tall) emotionally. I don’t have control over my height but I do have control over what I choose to learn.
Although I was blessed with this from a very young age, the older I’ve got, the sharper my intuition has become, especially about people, which has helped me over the years, to understand my clients more clearly so I can help them to become very successful.
Just as they did, you have the power of choice and although making changes in the way you think doesn’t happen overnight, with patience and a few simple techniques, when you change the way you think you can change your life. Anyone can make changes if they choose too so don’t allow old messages to stop you from achieving the outcomes you want in life.
