I was quite horrified yesterday to hear a young woman (late 40’s) say she was old. At the time my first thought was, “Wow, if she’s old what does that make me at 77?” However, I happen to believe that you are as old as you feel and I still feel like I’m 40!
Mid-life today is very different than it was a decade or two ago. According to experts mid-life is supposed to be from 45 – 60 years old. However, we don’t just die away after we’re 60, in fact I know many women who have transitioned into having better lives as they got older because they learned from mistakes they might have made and now have more wisdom.
Without even realizing it you might have subconscious thinking that is stopping you from reaching your full potential in creating a life that is joyful, prosperous, fun and abundant. You have the power of choice which gives you the ability to decide how you want to think.
Your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings are then expressed in your actions. Your actions produce a reaction, which causes your results. The way you think on the inside shows up in the results on the outside.
Maybe your children have all flown the coop and now you don’t know what to do with yourself, maybe you are tired of your corporate job and would really love to work your own hours or you would like to do more volunteer work.
Maybe you have been on your own for a long time because your husband died or you got divorced and now you would like to share things with someone again or just have fun being single again!
Ask yourself what’s stopping you from creating a different life and lifestyle than the one you are living now?
If you’re in the corporate world and would love to transition, take a look at the skills you have, the things you love to do, what you are passionate about and start thinking about how you could transfer that into your own business.
If you want to share your life with someone again check out some of the local social meet up groups. Join a class or attend something you are interested in where you might meet someone who is interested in the same thing.
There’s a great deal of magic to being in mid-life. Whatever your age, whether you are 50 or 80 how you live your life is all going to depend on the way you think and perceive things.
I’m 77 and yet am often told I don’t look older than early 60’s. I think that most older women today often look 10 years younger than their age. I still work, albeit in my own business so I create my own hours, my Amazon best seller was published when I was 65. My philosophy is you’re never too old, it’s never too late and you can do anything you want to do in life as long as you take a little action and are doing what you love.
What are three things you can do to make small changes as you move forward?
I would love to hear what you want to change so post your replies below so everyone can see. Your ideas will probably also apply to other women so let’s connect and share.
