Right now with the world turned upside down and having to do most things differently, it’s really important to make everything as simple as possible.
Zoom has become the new normal but it can also create havoc on your body sitting in front of a computer for hours a day. Spending many more hours on Zoom than normal, I’ve been to the chiropractor more in the last few months than I did in the last few years.
Find ways to make computer time more comfortable. Check out desks where you can stand up and work, if they’re too expensive, and you use a laptop, take a look at the ones that you can actually put on top of an existing desk that will allow you to work from a standing position. At the office stores they’re under $50.
I’m hearing from a lot of people that even with 8 hours of sleep they feel constantly tired. This is not unusual right now, even if you are used to working from home.
As strange as this may sound, it’s really important to be kind to yourself. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. Take time to breathe, go for a walk outside, take a nap. Whatever you choose to do, always take short breaks away from the computer to get re-energized.
Create a simple daily plan but give yourself space. If everything doesn’t get done, it’s OK. You don’t have to be perfect and there’s nothing that can’t wait until the next day.
I know it’s more challenging for some than others but even in the Covid situation, making things simple will allow you to decrease stress and anxiety.
