I’ve been doing some pondering based on emails I received about last week’s topic so in this Weekly Wisdom I want to talk about believing in yourself so that you never have to be an imposter.
It can take many years to truly believe in yourself however when you learn to do that, you will find that you also trust in your own decisions and comparing yourself to other people and worrying about what others think tends to disappear. There’s nothing quite like believing in yourself!
Everyone learns things in their own time, some faster than others, some maybe slower. You have likely read books about famous people you admired. These often show you what they had to go through to become successful. They write about the pain they had to endure and all the challenges they faced to achieve what they wanted.
Some of the stories might shock you. It’s sometimes hard to believe that famous people ever had to deal with adverse situations.
The internet will give you lots of opportunities to view stories of high-profile people, search and you will find hundreds of videos of well-known people describing their experiences. You will also find books covering the same subject, but videos may have more impact on you. However, there's usually much more detail in books rather than in a video. I suggest you take advantage of both.
It’s great to have others who can help motivate you. However, if you place them too high on a pedestal you may start to believe these people have an innate ability that you don’t possess and end up finding it difficult to motivate yourself.
That can be counterproductive. It’s important to realize most people started out the same as you. Some may have had initial advantages, but even people with advantages may not totally believe in themselves so they still need to work hard to attain the outcomes they want.
Another issue is spending too much time listening or reading about people who motivate you. At some point, it’s necessary for you to take action to achieve what you want because you believe in yourself.
It doesn’t matter which, be proud of ‘WHO YOU’ are and you will be surprised at what can happen for you if you just accept yourself and stop worrying or comparing yourself to others.
‘Til next time
Enjoy believing in yourself
Live life with abundance
